A highly sought-after opportunity to work with one of the most prestigious providers of groundwork and demolition services. They have been trading for over 35 years, with an annual turnover of over £22M and employ over 150 people.

Due to continued growth and business success, they are looking for someone to play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of their groundworks projects.

As a part of the team, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, preparing tender documents, and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget. Your contribution will be essential to the overall success of the construction projects. Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills and expertise.

The Duties

  • Attend site regularly to support commercially.
  • Identify any changes to the original scope of works in order to ensure variations are captured and accordingly claimed for.
  • Value completed work and submit Applications for Payment to the client that accurately reflect this.
  • Review contracts for prospective works.
  • Place subcontracts and value and authorise the subcontractor applications and payments.
  • Preparation of monthly forecasts / reports such as CVRs for review and approval from Commercial Manager.
  • Prepare and analyse project costing and be comfortable recalculating these costs during a project if the scope changes.
  • Monitor value management and cost control throughout projects and complete CVR's where required.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts that are in use.
  • Assist with and ensure accurate cash flow reporting.
  • Ensure that any supply chains or subcontractors used are engaged appropriately within the business and signed off by Procurement / Compliance.
  • Build and maintain good client relationships.
  • Contribute towards effective interaction between the commercial team and the site teams.
  • Attend site visits / meetings when required.
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts as per the contractual deadlines.

 

The Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar industry recognised qualification
  • Estimator / QS experience.
  • Prior experience in a construction or demolition industry.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Be approachable and professional.
  • Must possess excellent organisational skills, meeting deadlines, plan and prioritise workloads.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills. Good ability with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of relevant demolition (or construction, with a view to developing demolition) health and safety policies and procedures.

 

The Package

  • £28,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience).
